Despite being over thousands of kilometers away from home, HKU Mentee Ali Tanzim felt a sense of belonging through his mentor Mr Patrick Kwan during his exchange in Vancouver, Canada.

“My mentor is enthusiastic, passionate, wise, kind and supportive. Altogether, he is just an amazing person. He made me feel a sense of belonging in Vancouver. I felt that as we met up for various activities like badminton, lunch, sightseeing tourist sites etc, our mentor-mentee relationship developed into a friendship.”

“Through my mentor, I was introduced to the HKU Alumni Association of British Columbia (HKUAA BC) and the HK Community in Vancouver, and networked with other HKU Alumni. Patrick shared his life experiences; about his student life in HKU and his career afterwards. This gave me a great insight into life after graduation. Now, I feel more hopeful and I believe I can better plan my own career based on his advice. Overall, my experience with Mr Patrick was very enriching and I am grateful and honoured to be his mentee.”
