Friendships last

“Knowing that there will be a mentor in Beijing to guide me if I needed help, I felt more secure even before exchange started. Taylor is very friendly, nice and caring. He is a very good mentor in that he is approachable and always willing to offer help. Even though I missed the first meeting with other mentees, and was too shy to contact him, Taylor was very thoughtful and he always invited us to different events and gatherings. I was really grateful to be invited to his son’s birthday party at an indoor trampoline park. I had fun playing around with other mentees and had great conversations with my mentor and other mentees. I am also surprised to know that Taylor keeps in touch with his previous mentees, and one of them is Heidi who continues to be his mentee as she is currently studying in Beijing. I do hope we can all maintain these friendships even after the exchange ends.” Rachel Lee (second left) with mentor Taylor Lam (second right), mentee Mary Ma (BA Year 2) and Heidi Suen (Taylor’s mentee in 2016).
