Making progress on my life goals

“My mentor, Lionel, has given me a lot of helpful advice about my career, life in Hong Kong, and on personal growth. Every time I saw him, I was motivated and was given much useful advice. For example, when I was wondering about my future career, he suggested that I take any opportunity to talk to working adults who have interesting jobs. I took his advice and have approached some working adults and talked to them about their work. Every time I saw Lionel I made a list of what I wanted to achieve until the next mentorship session, and in the next session we would talk about the progress of my tasks. For instance, one goal was to ask my parents about my personality, and by doing so I got helpful insight about myself, which was useful when thinking about my core values. In conclusion, because of my mentor I had an opportunity to think about and do what I want to achieve instead of waiting for things to happen but not making any real progress. I really appreciate having Lionel as my mentor and for his ongoing encouragement.” Naomi (1st left, BA Year 3 exchange student from Japan)

“Lionel shared with me lots about his life experience and career path. I have been able to learn from his sharing and have looked into issues from different perspectives. He also gave me some advice about interviews and resume writing skills, which will definitely help my career development.” Sammy (1st right, BEcon&Fin Year 2)
