Mar 1 (Thu) | Why Code? | Reverse Mentorship

Over 40 mentors and mentees joined HKU Mentorship\u2019s first Reverse Mentorship workshop, \u2018Why Code?<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n

The workshop was held at iDendron and the participants enjoyed a tour of the brand new innovation and entrepreneurship hub, which serves as a co-working space for the University\u2019s students, staff, alumni and partners.<\/p>\n

Mentors learnt alongside their mentees the basics of coding, career and educational trends, everyday uses and even how to code a simple game in a hands-on session led by two student instructors, Grayson Ho and Matthew Tsui (both BBA[IS] & BEng[CompSc] Year 2).<\/p>\n

Participants had a lot of fun while also acquiring new knowledge and left feeling very inspired.<\/p>\n

One of the mentors shared that: \u201calthough they [the speakers] were not trained teachers, they managed to break down the process and go from the simple to the more complicated.\u00a0I am happy to have joined the workshop and be their mentee for an evening\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mentorship is really a two-way learning journey \u2013 not only can mentors teach and give advice, but mentees can also share ideas and inspire.<\/p>\n
